Part # 1-42
**This bobbin winder may come with a different size tire compared to original. Below are instructions for resetting the bobbin winder.
-How to set bobbin winder tire with hub wheel.
Remove 3 screws around the bobbin winder. Pull the entire bobbin winder assembly up out of the machine. Install the new bobbin winder assembly onto the machine.
Remove 5 screws from cover plate located on the back side of the machine above the motor.
Inside here you will see the top shaft of the machine. On the left side of the shaft is a hub wheel with 2 set screws. This hub wheel is what allows the bobbin winder shaft to spin when engaged. Depending on the model of your machine this hub wheel also has a disk attached to it that a sensor reads. The sensor will be just below the hub wheel. This sensor lets the machine know where needle up and down positions are.
If you do not have a sensor then the adjustment can be made by simply loosening the 2 set screws on the hub wheel. With the bobbin winder disengaged, slide the hub wheel towards the bobbin winder tire. There should be about a 2 MM gap between the hub wheel and bobbin tire. Tighten the hub wheel set screws. Engage the bobbin winder and look at the tire. The tire should now make contact with the hub wheel.
If you have the sensor then there are a few extra steps required from the above steps. As you rotate the handwheel the disk on the hub wheel should be centered in the sensor bracket. If it is not, you need to remove the sensor. There is one screw holding this on. Once the screw is removed you can add or remove washers to create the space needed so that the disk aligns in the center of the sensor bracket. Keep in mind that you do not want to rotate the hub wheel as this adjustment is made. This will affect the needle up and down positions. To reset this simply test by pressing the needle up button on the handlebar. The take-up lever should stop at the highest position every time. If it does not, loosen the 2 set screws on the hub wheel then rotate the hub wheel. Tighten the set screws and test needle up again. Continue making adjustments with the hub wheel rotation until a true needle up is obtained.
